Airports
Kyoto City is not serviced by a domestic or international airport. The closest airport is Itami Airport and then Kansai Airport both in Osaka prefecture. Kyoto doesn’t have its own airport, so if you are arriving from overseas, you will usually land at Kansai Airport or Osaka Itami Airport. You will have to catch the train, limousine bus, or Airport taxi service (MK Taxi and Yasaka Taxi Service) to get to Kyoto. If you plan to come from other Japanese cities, Tokyo for example, the Shinkansen Train will make the trip in about 2 hours.
